Located on the north shore of Choctawhatchee Bay, major roadways connect Niceville with nearby Destin, Crestview, Freeport, Valparaiso, Shalimar, Fort Walton Beach, Eglin Air Force Base and Duke Field.

The adjacent cities of Niceville and Valparaiso, both built around Boggy Bayou, are known as the Twin Cities. The greater Niceville area encompasses Valparaiso, located on Niceville’s western boundary, and Bluewater Bay, located just east of Niceville.

The population of the City of Niceville is about 12,500. The greater Niceville area has 15,000 homes and a total population of around 40,000.

Northwest Florida Regional Airport is only minutes away from Niceville, as is Eglin’s East and West gates, and the entrance gate at Duke Field.

Everything that Destin has to offer – white sand beaches, stupendous shopping and remarkable dining – is only a 20-minute drive from here thanks to the Mid-Bay Bridge connecting Niceville and Destin.

More and more families who come to vacation in Destin are staying in Niceville. Visitors staying in Niceville save money and get a break from the bumper-to-bumper traffic found on the south side of the bay.

Even better, they get to enjoy the more relaxed, hometown atmosphere Niceville offers.

There’s plenty to do in the greater Niceville area, too! Among other things, visitors enjoy the Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center, Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida, golf, paintball, children’s park, spray park, skate park, Turkey Creek boardwalk and our picturesque waterfront parks.

Visitors also love dining in Niceville’s favorite restaurants and browsing in our shops.

Everything is easy to find in Niceville because the business district is built around the city’s main thoroughfare, John Sims Parkway (State Road 20). The hotels in Niceville are also located on, or just off, John Sims Parkway.

Welcome to Niceville! Nice folks. Nice town. Have a nice time.
